Credit Counseling Before Bankruptcy
All debtors are required to engage in two credit counseling courses before filing bankruptcy and again before receiving a discharge for either Chapter 7 or Chapter 13. The credit counseling courses are designed to assist with seeing all of your debts, budgeting, and managing your money. If you are considering bankruptcy but wish to explore alternative methods of resolving your financial situation, you would be well-served to contact a non-profit credit counseling organization such as CCCS of Atlanta, now known as Credability, to see if you are able to settle your debts without bankruptcy.
Credit counseling can be completed through a short online session at the following website: cccsatl.org. The cost of each counseling session is $50 for a total of $100. We can assist you in completing the online counseling session in our offices.
