Debt Settlement and Negotiation
One alternative to filing bankruptcy is commonly referred to as debt settlement. While we do not consolidate your debts into one payment, our attorneys are able to assist you with negotiating with each of your creditors to lower the amount of debt you owe.
Debt Settlement May Be Right for You
Affordable Monthly Payments
Oftentimes, if your credit card debts or medical bills are already in collections, we can negotiate to lower the amount you owe to your creditors or work out a monthly payment plan with the creditors. If creditors have already sued you for overdue credit cards or medical bills, our attorneys are familiar with the legal process and can assist you in answering the lawsuits and negotiating to reduce the total amount owed. Many times, we can not only reduce the amount that you owe to the creditor, we can also set up a monthly payment plan with the creditor at zero percent interest.
Lump Sum Settlements
The best way to settle a debt for significantly less than you owe is to offer a one-time lump sum payment. If you are able to make a lump sum payment to the creditor, the creditor may be willing to accept a very small percentage of the principal owed. It is unlikely for creditors to reduce total balances and allow you to make monthly payments on past-due debt.
